About Macedon Ranges Glass: Second-Generation Glaziers, Still Answering Our Own Phone

We’re a second-generation family glazing business, established in 1970, still up the road, and still answering our own phones

Macedon Ranges Glass is a second-generation family glazing business founded in 1970. From our showrooms in Gisborne and on Piper Street, Kyneton, our team of six long-serving tradesmen custom makes and installs retrofit double glazing for existing timber windows, shower screens, mirrors, splashbacks and replacement glass across the Macedon Ranges.

OUR STORY

Fifty-Five Years of Glass, One Family

Brett’s father started this business in his garage in 1970, cutting glass for neighbours around the Macedon Ranges before there was a factory, a showroom, or a second generation to hand it to.

Brett joined as an apprentice in 1989 and learned the trade the old way, on the tools, alongside his dad. When his father retired in 2021, Brett bought the business and became the second generation to run it. His sister Nicole has worked here since the late 1980s, his wife Alycia runs our Kyneton showroom, and his son works in the business today, the third generation on the job.

Along the way we’ve glazed some jobs you’d know: the MCG redevelopment for the 2006 Commonwealth Games, four levels of exterior glazing on the Royal Children’s Hospital, and store fit-outs for Chanel and Giorgio Armani. These days our work is closer to home, keeping Macedon Ranges houses warm, and Macedon Ranges bathrooms, kitchens and windows looking great.

THE TEAM

The People Behind the Glass

Most glass companies are one bloke and a ute. We’re a team, and most of us have been here long enough to have done multiple jobs for the same customer.

Brett

Owner & Second-Generation Glazier

On the tools since 1989. Still personally handles almost all the retrofit quotes, because a $25,000 decision deserves a conversation with the owner.

Trevor

Master Glazier

Our AGWA-accredited Master Glazier who’s been with us for more than 20 years.

Nicole

Office & Operations

With the business since the late 1980s; the voice you’ll often get when you call.

Alycia

Kyneton Showroom

Runs our Piper Street showroom, where you can see and touch the double glazed units, mirrors, shower screens and splashbacks before you spend a dollar.

Our tradesmen

Six Long-serving glaziers

They measure, make and fit everything themselves – the same names our customers mention in reviews.

How We Work

The Old-Fashioned Way, On Purpose

Most glass companies are one bloke and a ute. We’re a team, and most of us have been here long enough to have done multiple jobs for the same customer.

We're honest about what we can't do

We're honest about what we can't do

Retrofit double glazing only works on timber-framed windows. If your frames are aluminium, or you have double-hung sash windows, we’ll tell you straight away rather than waste your time with a quote.

We make it here, ourselves

We make it here, ourselves

Every shower screen, mirror and splashback is custom made in New Gisborne and installed by our own tradesmen, never an imported kit or a subcontractor.

We're Not the Cheapest, and We Don't Pretend to Be

We’re the premium glazier in the district, and we’re upfront about it. What that buys you isn’t a lower invoice, it’s a job done once, properly, by a company that will still be here when it matters.

That’s the trade we ask you to make, and after 55 years it’s the one our customers keep coming back for.

What our customers say

Don't Take Our Word For It

★★★★★

“I would like to thank you and your team for the great job done in retrofitting double glazing to all the north-facing windows in my home. The clean-up was faultless, and they ensured the gate was kept closed at all times given I have a six-month-old puppy. I am delighted with the end result – the six fixed panels in the meals area were made into one very large picture window, and it has added a real WOW factor looking out onto the back garden. I am already impressed with the comfort and quietness since the windows went in.”

– Jan, retrofit double glazing, New Gisborne

★★★★★

“We just wanted to thank you for the quality of the work on the reglazing of our house. The job was done very professionally, the workmen were pleasant and considerate, and we can now keep snug throughout the harshest Mount Macedon winter!”

– John A., Mount Macedon

★★★★★

“Thank you for a job well done, and for the courteous and efficient manner with which it was performed. Special thanks to Trevor, always cheery and amenable to all requests. Please feel free to send prospective clients to view your work.”

– Geraldine and Marc, New Gisborne
